Starlite Ballroom, at Kensington & Lehigh Avenues (famed K&A 'hood), Philadelphia Philly punk pioneer promoter David Carroll first produced punk shows in this historic and decrepit venue deep in white-trash land. I remember X from LA and the Go-Gos. Then Steve Fritz (others??) promoted shows with the Dead Kennedys, Informed Sources, the Pop Group, maybe The Gang of Four, and even more maybe Siouxsie and the Banshees. The most memorable event was the Philly punks getting attacked by hordes of one-tooth speed-freak, drunken mutants. Some punks gallantly fought back, most left with the proverbial tail between their legs. The concert series quickly ended! Too bad

Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica
Known as "The Ultimate IN", this was the Philly stop of Ozzy's "The Ultimate Sin" tour. The Spectrum was host to a Phila. Flyers NHL playoff game the night before, and a '76ers NBA playoff game that afternoon. It all went nice and smooth and on schedule. I worked the catering with my then-girl friend Patty Boyle.
