Dire qu’en des temps si lointains qu’ils en sont légendaire, Shiva lui même a foulé ces rochers, et par son troisième oeil a inondé la vallée de la force de Brahman !
Après une semaine béatifique, un allemand habitant la région depuis dix ans et avec qui j’avais sympathisé, m’a emmené rendre visite à sa femme indienne et son fils dans la vallée de Tirthan, a une centaine de kilomètres au sud de Manali.
Changement de décor humain: aucun touriste, seulement un autre couple allemand là pour le calme et la méditation, et une institutrice quinqua anglaise et son boyfriend indien de vingt cinq ans !!!
Beaucoup plus sauvage et tout aussi superbe que la vallée de Kullu où est Manali, nous sommes ici dans la zone tampon qui protège le Grand Parc National de l’Himalaya.

La rivière Tirthan est un torrent de montagne aux eaux bleues-vertes venant des glaciers loin la haut dans les nuages, et qui va aller se jeter dans la Beas.

 

 

To think that in times so ancient they’ve become legendary, Shiva himself walked in these mountains, and through his third eye bathed the entire valley with the force of Brahman!!
A beatific week later, this German fellow I befriended and who had lived here for the past ten years took me 100 kilometers south to the Tirthan Valley where lived his Indian wife and child.
Big change of pace here. No tourists, no cyber cafés, no shops, bad roads, small villages lost on the mountainsides. The only euros were a German couple here for peace and meditation, and a fiftyish English schoolteacher and her twenty-something Indian boyfriend!
Much wilder and even more beautiful than Kullu Valley and Manali, we are here in the eco-buffer zone protecting the Great Himalayan National Park.

The Tirthan River is a mountain torrent with blue-green waters, filled with trouts, roaring down the valley from the glacier that gave it birth way up there under the clouds, .
